Dry Run
Run one week of a real small business, right here in this page. Work arrives at you across five days, you decide what to do with it, and a ledger beside your desk shows exactly what each decision did to your cash, your tax, your stock and your books. On Friday the week closes and hands you the verdict.
This week you are running
What the week asks you
The five decisions that quietly decide the week
The days below are the same five in every trade. What changes is who is asking, what the document looks like, and what it costs you to get it wrong.
Money in
A customer wants to take the goods now and settle later. You choose the terms, and the ledger shows you the difference between making a sale and being paid for one.
Money out
A supplier bill turns up that does not agree with the order it was raised against. Approve it, hold it, or query the lines that are wrong.
The gap
Something in your books does not add up: an overdue balance nobody has chased, or a card settlement that does not match the bank. You decide whether this is the week you deal with it.
The people
A timesheet is waiting and payroll runs tomorrow. What you approve today is a cost today and cash on Friday, which is where most weeks quietly come apart.
The stock, and the close
One last call about what you carry, or throw away, or send out. Then the week closes and you get the numbers your five decisions actually produced.
Before you read too much into it
What a Dry Run is, and what it is not
What it is
- A working model of how HisaBooks posts a real week, using the same accounts, the same tax treatment, and the same document flow the product uses.
- Tax carved out of the gross amount rather than added on top, which is how every price in HisaBooks is handled.
- Deterministic. The same choices always produce the same close, so two people can compare their weeks.
- Yours alone. Nothing is sent anywhere, nothing is stored, and closing the tab ends it.
What it is not
- Not the product. The screens here are faithful representations of real ones, drawn at a size you can read, not the live application.
- Not your figures. The businesses, people, prices and balances are invented, and the numbers are illustrative.
- Not accounting advice. Your own tax treatment depends on your country, your registration, and your accountant.
- Not a trial. When you want to run your own week, that is what the free workspace is for.
Now do it with your own week
The hard part of business software is never the first screen. It is the fifth decision on a Thursday, and whether anything caught it.
